Global Sight Solutions
(Guildford Eye Project)
In 1998 Guildford Rotarian Dr Sam Das, set up the ‘Guildford Eye Project’ which centred on curing blindness in India. Through his own efforts and those of Rotary Clubs Rotary Eye Hospitals in India were set up around Calcutta mainly to remove cataracts and restore sight free to those who cannot afford to pay.
Such was the success of the project, it was deemed that the format should be made available to the developing world in general. Because of this the ‘Guildford Eye Project’, a registered Charity , now operates under the name of ‘Global Sight Solutions®’ ( https://www.globalsightsolutions.org/) and now falls into one of the seven ‘Rotary Foundation’ areas of focus. It is a 100% Rotary Charity.

Masanga Clinic – Sierra Leone
“Thanks to the Rotary Club of Guildford Wey’s generous contribution, the clinic has been able to make huge improvements. Your support has provided laptops to keep proper medical records and gather data for research, as well as reliable blood pressure monitors and even portable ECG machines to detect heart problems early.” (Click Picture for full details)

Purple4Polio
Since 1986, Rotary International has been leading the fight against Polio,
working with the World Health Organisation and Governments to vaccinate all the world’s children. Today the wild Polio virus exists only in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The Rotary Club of Guildford Wey, a number of whose members live in Shalford, acquired 4000 Purple Crocus Bulbs and planted them on Saturday 25th October in the grass area opposite Snooty’s Groceries next to the Orchard.
