This competition is one of two public speaking competitions for schools designed to encourage young people to develop the creative and presentation skills essential to the art of public speaking.
In teams of three, participants will argue for and against your chosen topic. They present structured arguments and rebuttals before taking a question from the audience.
Participants can select a topic that is important to them, allowing them to delve deep into research, formulate ideas, and expand their knowledge.
Taking part helps build self-confidence and develop public speaking skills, including how to keep an audience engaged.
Entrants can take part in the Intermediate (ages 11-13) or Senior (14-17) categories (ages as of 31st August 2025).

Rotary Club of Guildford Wey arranged a local heat of this national competition at the imposing Guildhall Guildford which used to be the Old Courthouse !
The schools taking part in the Intermediate and Senior Categories were Tormead School, Seaford College, Christ’s College, & Prior’s Field School.
The overall winners of the Intermediate category were Prior’s Field School and in the Senior Category Tormead School. Well done to all teams. A very high standard.
Thanks must also go to the adjudicators Ali Johnson and Martyn Parker who gave excellent feed back to all participants. The winning schools will now progress to the next round of the national Rotary competition.
