This is a chance for Guildford to showcase the multicultural talent that we have in Guildford and the environs.
As well as other local performers we will have displays from the DanceShakti group, the Guildford Shakespeare Company and the Csillagszeműek Anglia Hungarian Dance group to name but three.
This is charity event with proceeds going to the Mayor’s Social Fund.
Some of the performers
DanceShakti
DanceShakti is a Bollywood dance performance troupe based in Guildford, Surrey. They specialise in dance styles including Bollywood, Bharatanatyam & Kathak (Indian Classical), Indian Folk Dance and Commercial dance styles.
Since their formation in 2015, they have gone on to perform at numerous international festivals and events, both around the UK and abroad.
Guildford Shakespeare Company
Their over-riding objective is to broaden cultural engagement and nurture the audiences and artists of tomorrow. Their desire to be the go-to resource for Shakespeare education in the South East (outside of London), is an essential component in realising that ambition.
EDUCATION & OUTREACH
Throughout the year, their dedicated Outreach and Education Department creates some 17,000 participant opportunities every year for young and old through workshops, clubs and classes. Their TIE tours reach 7,500 students a year, in targeted, disadvantaged primary and secondary schools across Surrey.
Csillagszeműek Anglia
In 2014, with the support of the Csillagszemű Dance Ensemble the Csillagszeműek Anglia (Starry-Eyed Hungarian Folk Dance Group) was established to provide folk dance classes in various Hungarian communities in South-East England using the very effective Timár-method.
Böske Timár, the leader and artistic director of Csillagszemű Dance Ensamble continuously supports Csillagszeműek Anglia in order to deliver the children the best possible dance education built on the Timár method.
Folk dance classes, special events and performances
Csillagszeműek Anglia teaches Hungarian folk dance to 3-14 years old children and offers folk dance classes and special workshops at various locations in London, Surrey and Hampshire. Currently more than 80 children attend Csillagszemű folk dance classes at one of our locations.
